Launched in Fall 2020, the Tigerlily Foundation and Guiding Researchers & Advocates to Scientific Partnerships (GRASP) monthly conversation series shines a light on the experiences of Black women with breast cancer through two conversations, #KnowMoreDisparities and #PullUpASeat. The #KnowMoreDisparities conversations are facilitated for and by Black women will create a safe space for honest conversations with Black physicians, patients and medical clinicians to discuss their experiences of health inequality, implicit racial bias and lessons learned. After two weeks, the #PullUpASeat conversations, co-hosted by a Black patients and doctors will amplify the voices of Black women through candid conversations with non-Black physicians and medical clinicians on the conversation topic and determine solutions to the high mortality rate of black women.
Our mission is to leave each participant with actionable tools that provide a tangible way to end a barrier for patients of color; as well as to educate allies in the healthcare/scientific/research/industry community and provide them with a deeper understanding of how to support, engage and collaborate with patients.
